nascar is in town again & i hate that dover cateers to these idiots. i want them out of my town. they think since they are not in their own place, they can through the redneck jackass olympics here and no one is the wiser. i don't hesitate to give them a piece of my mind when i get the chance. it makes no diffence, but i get to blow some steam. i just think if a town doesn't have the space for a concert hall as they have recently deemed, as we do not have the traffic resources, they we don't have it for nascar. have you ever tried to go from the base to the mall on nascar weekend? please leave an hour earlier than you mean to arrive. if you work at aetna, you can be assured you have no place to park, as the lot has been sold. if you are lucky, you can pay $20 and upwards, to park on the farthest outreaches of the lot, were you would normally park at the front for free. i had to double park when my son went to daycare there & was told my car would be impounded if i didn't pay for a parking spot. i told them that i paid $150 weekly to have a spot there! blow me! at least at the mall, the workers have a spot in each section they are allowed to park & a pass so that they may do so. when i worked the mall, after that day's shift, i would lend out the day pass to my friends whould actually wanted to shop & needed to park there, not cos they needed a close parking spot to the track. i think i could deal with the traffic & the parking if the guests weren't such assholes. i understand they must pay a lot to go to delaware & see cars go around in a circle, not unlike my son's slotcars & it pisses them off that they spent that money on it & not on college or shirts with sleeves, but they can not come here & expect everyone to wipe their ass for them! we do not bend over for beach goers! people come all over to the delaware beaches & they have to pay for lot or meter parking. the locals have parking passes & they renovate the roads to accept the traffic flow. i am sure the locals will have something different to say, but in short, the beaches are better managed than nascar season. the main excuse i hear for it all is that it pumps our econ. cos they spend money here. i have only seen wal*mart & restaurants get business and these companys don't need special weekends to drive sales. any other retail i have worked, sends people home early cos no one else wants to come out & shop. the acme by the track has no food. good luck going to your favorite bar or restaurant. if i want milk, i will get it at a gas station for like $6 rather than going to the grocery store & pay $4 cos i don't want to be in the car an hour. i just don't see how alienating your taypayers is good for a town.
